‘No reason to cry’ – Medvedev talks about losing no.1 rank to Alcaraz

Daniil medvedev is well aware that he needs to do more if he wants to become the new world number 1 once again

Alcaraz And Medvedev

Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest world number 1 in history after conquering the US Open title. With his latest achievement, the Spanish sensation snatched the top rank from the hands of Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian is currently in Metz where he will try to defend his title. When asked about his feeling when he lost the world number 1 status to the young player, Daniil commented:

“The ranking is the consequence of your results and if we take the American summer, for example, I did not take enough points to stay No. 1, or even No. 2 or 3. Whereas Casper, Carlos, Rafa, of course, with the two Grand Slams he won at the start of the year, they took a lot more points.

So, it’s just logical. I have no feelings about it, no reason to cry. I can only tell myself that I have to do better if I want to find this place in the future”.
