Sabine Lisicki may have lost the match against Ana Ivanovic, but at least she left a big mark on the match.
The match was on a 5-all, 40-30 score-line when Sabine fired the rocket at Ana that managed just to put the racket on it. This serve was recorded at 131mph (or 210.8 km/h). Lisicki won the game, but then she lost the match 7-6 (1) 6-1.
The previous record was held by Venus Williams that 7 years ago blasted a 129mph (207.6 km/k) serve at the US Open.
Andrea Petkovic couldn’t refrain from commenting on Twitter ”@sabinelisicki 131 miles per hour! THIS IS NOT YOU SERIOUSLY! HOW!”.
Well…at least I broke the world record for fastest serve on @WTA … 😉💪 #131mph #history #record pic.twitter.com/vhWGNtMDHo
