Toni Nadal makes it clear: the goal is winning the US Open.
During a recent interview Toni has been asked about the fact that Rafa will have to defend 4000 points during the American Summer. In fact, the world no.2 had a triumphant 2013 in North America after winning Cincinnati, Montreal and the US Open (you can’t really get better than that).
Toni: Rafa should not focus on defending his points…
The mythological uncle commented “Nothing really changes. If we didn’t have those 4000 points to defend from last year, Rafael wouldn’t be so high in the rankings. What really matters is to play well in the tournaments and don’t focus on the points”.
… I would sign for the US Open
Then he added “It will not be easy to repeat those results. But we will try. I am ready to sign straight away a paper if you tell me that Rafael will lose both the Masters 1000 and win the US Open”.
