Nick Kyrgios won a fantastic match against Daniil Medvedev in the US Open 3rd round. The Australian sensation played flawless tennis with one huge exception. He failed to procure what could have been a crucial break point in the fourth set by doing something silly.
During the rally, Medvedev sent a ball in the air after trying to volley. That ball would have ended in Daniil’s court. Strangely, Kyrgios decided to cross the net and hit the ball anyway in Medvedev’s part of the court. Nick thought it was legal, but it wasn’t and therefore he lost the point.
Nick commented:
“I honestly thought it was legal. I still can’t believe the boneheaded play I made over here, I thought that was legal to be honest,” he said. “That’s going to be everywhere on SportsCenter, so I’m gonna look like an idiot.”
