Federer

Roger Federer will play on Thursday his last match of the group stage of the ATP Finals against Kevin Anderson.

The Swiss Maestro had 2 completely different performances in his previous 2 matches. In fact, he didn’t appear to be at his very best in the 1st match against Kei Nishikori when he lost 7-6 (4) 6-3 while he was much better in the following match when he defeated Dominic Thiem 6-2 6-3.

What are Federer’s chances to qualify for the semifinal?

Roger Federer may not qualify for the semifinals even if he defeats Kevin Anderson. Here his chances

Federer wins in 2

Roger qualifies unless Nishikori wins in 2 sets (in this case the highest games % will decide)

Federer wins in 3

Roger qualifies if Thiem wins, but he doesn’t qualify if Nishikori wins.

Anderson wins in 2

Roger qualifies if Thiem wins in 2 and Federer has the best games %

Anderson wins in 3

Roger qualifies if Thiem wins in 2
