Stefanos had many heartbreaks when playing finals in top tournaments. He lost 8 finals when playing ATP500, 4 finals when competing in ATP1000 events and he did not manage to win the French Open final in 2021 when he was leading Novak Djokovic by 2 sets. Fortunately, Tsitsipas has 9 titles under his belt.

During the trophy ceremony, Stefanos conceded that his conqueror played extremely well and he added that he didn’t lose because he choked.

Stefanos commented:

“You’ve proved yourself over and over again. It was an incredible comeback from injury. You are proving that you are up there with us.”

Tsitsipas said he is trying to win his first title on outdoor hardcourt to add:

“It kind of sucks. I still hope to come back here and win it one day. I was definitely not choking — I just played robots every time in finals.
