This time the Canadian hottie got a bit “lucky” as she had to take advantage of an injury occurred to Andrea Petkovic (left thigh) while the scoreline was 6-4 0-4 in favor of the German.
However, Genie is still having a remarkable week in Luxembourg since she has now won 6 consecutive matches because she was coming from the qualifications. Bouchard impressed especially in the 2nd round after she trounced the seed no.3 Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1 6-0 playing remarkable tennis.

It’s unfortunate, but I have another chance. BOUCHARD
After the match, Genie commented
“It’s unfortunate that she had to retire – and I know the feeling, I’ve had to do the same a few times in the past, It’s the worst feeling as an athlete, to not be able to play anymore. I’m very sad for her and I hope that she can start next year strong.
It’s weird to win this way, it doesn’t feel amazing. But I’ll wake up tomorrow in the semifinals and be excited to have another chance.”
The semifinal vs. Goerges
Genie will face Julia Goerges in the semifinal. The head to head is 1-0 for the Canadian, but that was on clay and 4 years ago.
