On Friday, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Carlos Alcaraz engaged in a rather dramatic match in Barcelona. Stefanos was struggling to find the solution against the young Spaniard who had already defeated him on 2 occasions.

There was a rough altercation between Tsitsipas and the chair umpire when the Greek player was hit by 2 penalty points. During the 3rd set, when Stefanos was trailing 0-3, the world no.5 got a prolonged break to change his shirt. When back he was hit with a double penalty point to start serving in the 4th game from 0-30.

Stefanos lost his cool also because Alcaraz took a prolonged toilet break at the beginning of the third set to regroup after losing the second dropping 5 consecutive games. On that occasion, the 18-year-old didn’t have any penalty. Tsitsipas accused the umpire of not knowing the rules saying ‘If you are wrong, youshould be fired.”
