Zverev apologizes after defaulting in Acapulco. VIDEO

Sascha Zverev posted a statement on social media after Bean withdrawal not from Acapulco

Zverev Apology

Alexander Zverev has always stated that he loves playing in Acapulco, where he has many wonderful memories. Unfortunately, the defending champion ended his campaign in Mexico in the worst possible way after being withdrawn from the tournament following an incredible outburst.

After losing a match in doubles with his dear friend Marcelo Melo, Alexander Zverev could not contain his frustration for a call that he deemed wrong. Eventually, the German player repeatedly hit the umpire’s chair violently with his racket. The consequence was that Zverev defaulted in both singles and doubles.

Later, Sascha released the following statement on social media:

“It is difficult to put into words how much I regret my behavior during and after the doubles match yesterday. I have privately apologized to the chair umpire because my outburst towards him was wrong and unacceptable, and I am only disappointed in myself. It just should not have happened and there is no excuse. I would also like to apologize to my fans, the tournament, and the sport that I love. As you know, I leave everything on the court. Yesterday, I left too much. I am going to take the coming days to reflect – on my actions and how I can ensure that it will not happen again. I am sorry for letting you down.”
