Roger Federer impresses the crowd and his fans with a remarkable performance in his US Open 1st round.
The Swiss sensation was opposed to the world no.177 Yoshihito Nishioka that is trying to find his tennis after the operation he had in 2017
The match
Roger was just all over the places, and there was really not much of a contest for the entire match after Roger got a quick lead in all sets (5-1, 4-0, 4-0). The only “thrilling” moment was when the seed no.2 was broken after he failed to serve out the match when he was leading 6-2 6-2 5-2. The Maestro didn’t fail soon after to win the encounter 6-2 6-2 6-4.
I had a good preparation week. FEDERER
Soon after the match, Roger commented
“Thankfully I wasn’t too nervous tonight. I felt good. I felt like I had a good preparation week. No hiccups there. I think that settles my nerves there.
When you do walk out onto Arthur Ashe, you feel like people are there to see the show, enjoy themselves. Sure, they come for the tennis, but it’s also sorts of a bucket list, wanting to be there. It’s great to have also played a good first round against an entertaining first-round opponent.”
Next vs. Paire
Roger will face Benoit Paire in the second round. The head to head is 6-0 for the Maestro that beat the Frenchman recently in Halle after saving 2 match points.
