ELBOW INJURY. Tsitsipas explains why he believes he will recover for the Australian Open

Stefanos reveals why he is so optimistic about his elbow injury

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas was meant to play his first match of the year on Saturday against Hubert Hurkacz (ATP Cup). However, that did not happen because Stefanos is still not 100% recovered from his elbow operation.

The Greek sensation was bothered by an elbow injury during the second part of 2021 to undergo surgery in November. Stefanos was supposed to recover pretty quickly, but then he was disappointed to also decide not to play singles at the ATP Cup.

Eventually, team Greece lost to team Poland 2-1, with Stefanos Tsitsipas partnering with Michail Pervolarakis in doubles and defeating Hurkacz and Jielinski in 3 sets.

After the tie, Stefanos said that he is still optimistic about his recovery to comment:

My elbow has been better than ever before. I’m truly relieved that I’m able to feel normal again after years and years of suffering. The concern was kind of something that I expected, but it’s not serious. I’m just trying to protect it.

I think with the right amount of training rehabilitation and time, time will show, time will give me the opportunity to fully have my arm healed and recovered from this tough surgery that I had and I think in one week time I’ll be very, very close to 100 percent.”
