Alexander Zverev ended the current season in the best possible way after winning the ATP Finals for the second time in his career.
During a recent interview, Alexander Zverev talked about his 2022 targets. The German sensation said that he believes that Djokovic, Medvedev, and himself are going to dominate the ATP Tour as they did in 2021.
“Before there used to always talk about Nadal, Federer and Djokovic. Now the big titles were the Olympics, U.S. Open, Turin and Wimbledon, and they were all won by Medvedev, Djokovic, and me. I don’t expect it to be any different next year,” said Zverev.
However, Sascha added that he would like to win his first slam next year and become the new world number 1. On Eurosport Germany’s Das Gelbe vom Ball podcast, Zverev commented:
“I know I’m not far away from it [becoming world no.1], but for that, I also have to win tournaments and Grand Slams.”

Currently the world no.3 (career-high), Zverev played his last match on the 21st of November when he overcame world no.2 Daniil Medvedev 6-4 6-4 in the final in the Nitto ATP Finals to win his 19th career title.
This season Zverev owns an overall 59-15 match record. Zverev clinched 5 titles in 2021 in Acapulco, in Madrid, in Tokyo, in Cincinnati, and in Vienna.

Currently ranked no.1, Novak played his last match on the 3rd of December when he defeated world no.30 Marin Cilic 6-4 6-2 in the Rubber 2 of the Davis Cup (draw).
Currently, during this season the Serbian has a composed 55-7 match record. The Serbian clinched 5 titles in 2021 at the Australian Open, in Belgrade, at the French Open, in Wimbledon and in Paris. Novak got to the final in Rome and at the U.S. Open.
Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic fought against each other 11 times. Their head to head is 7-4 for Djokovic. Previously, the last time they played each other, Alexander Zverev won 7-6(4) 4-6 6-3 in the semifinal in Turin (Nitto ATP Finals) on the 20th of November 2021.
