Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev lead Team Russia to conquer its 3rd Davis Cup title. Thanks to a very strong team with a deep line-up, Medvedev & C. were the hot favorites to conquer the title.
In the final, Medvedev defeated Cilic 7-6(7), 6-2 in 89 minutes after Rublev dismissed Borna Gojo 6-4, 7-6(5) in 1 hour and 33 minutes.
After the match, Medvedev commented:
“It feels amazing. I am more happy for the team than myself. We have an amazing team with an amazing atmosphere and I am just happy to be able to be part of this team to win the points we needed. It was an amazing two weeks. I am really happy.”
Rublev added:
“It was super tough. There was a lot of pressure on me. Borna was playing unbelievably for the past two weeks. He has beaten some amazing players and was amazing today. I will enjoy the moment.”

Currently ranked no.2 (career-high), Medvedev played his last match on the 5th of December when he defeated world no.30 Marin Cilic 7-6(7) 6-2 in the Rubber 2 of the Davis Cup (draw).
