Federer keeps on pursuing his next record of being the first player to win 6 ATP year finales. The Swiss now holds 5 titles (same as Sampras and Lendl).
The world nr. 4 had a head start winning a very confident 1st set (6-2) in style. The second set was a completely different story. All of the sudden Federer looked shaky and a combination of weird unforced errors (by the Swiss) and power forehands (by the French) gave to Tsonga the 2nd set (6-2).
The 3rd set was very tense, but the experience of Federer gave to him the opportunity to fully take advantage of the only floppy serve game of his opponent when the Swiss was leading 5-4. The decider ended 6-4 after a pinpoint backhand.
Federe looks as strong and confident as ever.
