Emma Raducanu joined Simona Halep in the heart of the Romanian fans. The British champion has big connections with the Romanian tennis fans because of her roots. Emma’s father was born in Bucharest, and she can speak good Romanian.
Raducanu had a fantastic welcoming in Romania during the recent tournament in Cluj-Napoca, where she reached the quarter-final.
“She will be one of the best”
During a recent interview, Simona Halep explains why she believes that Emma Raducanu will have a fantastic career. Simona commented:
“What she achieved is unbelievable and it’s all credit to her because she played so well and she played so many matches. I think her mentality was very strong and also her game. She showed great tennis, very fast, very close to the baseline and I think her movement was also great.
She’s already achieved the Grand Slam title so she’s able to achieve everything. She now has the experience of winning the biggest tournament in tennis so I think she can easily make the top 10 and I think sooner than everyone else thinks because she’s already close to that.
She has a bright future and for sure she will be one of the best players in the world.”
Emma and Simona will both compete in Linz next week.

Ranked world no.21 (career-high), Raducanu played her last match on the 29th of October when she was overcome by world no.50 Marta Kostyuk 6-2 6-1 in the quarter in Cluj (draw).
At present, during this year Emma has achieved a 25-8 record. Emma conquered 1 title at the U.S. Open. Emma was the finalist in Chicago.
Simona Halep in 2021
Ranked world no.22, the Romanian played her last match on the 31st of October when she capitulated to world no.8 Anett Kontaveit 6-2 6-3 in the final in Cluj (draw).
This season Halep has managed to achieve an overall 22-10 win-loss record. Simona Halep’s latest run in Napoca was the best achievement of her season.
