Raducanu talks about adapting after losing in Romania

Emma Raducanu reveals what she needs to do to stay at the top

Emma Raducanu is finding herself in a rather unique situation. The 18-year-old won the US Open after playing her second slam in her young career, coming straight from the qualifications and without dropping a single set on the way. Also, it is interesting to note that Emma has never managed to win a single match at WTA level before winning the title in New York.

The young champion is aware that she needs to find her rhythm playing week-in and week-out on the main tour. Emma lost the opening match in Indian Wells in what was her first appearance after the US Open. This week, Emma reached the quarters in Cluj-Napoca while hoping for a much deeper run in Romania.

Emma Raducanu hit the headlines also for parting ways with her coach soon after winning the US Open. She admitted that she needs a coach and a mentor with strong experience at WTA level.

About the adjusting

Talking about her recent experience, Emma commented:

“It’s just the last 6 months, been a lot of learning. I’ve experienced a lot in the last six months with not so many gaps, just adapting to the fast pace life of the tour. I’m still very new to it and it will still just take me some time to adjust.”

Emma will get some rest to play in Linz in a couple of weeks.
