ATP Rankings: Murray down to world no.7 and Ferrer back to no.4!

Interesting stuff in the ATP rankings after a week that has featured 3 tournaments (Rotterdam, Buenos Aires and Memphis).

Murray

The biggest surprise is that Andy Murray is now down to world no.7 as Tomas Berdych did overtake him.

Andy may face much more misery in the rankings in the months to come has have to defend lots of points in Miami and London (both the Aegon Championship and Wimbledon. If the Scott doesn’t improve his results he may well crash out the top10.

Berdych

Winning the tournament in Rotterdam (the first after 16 months) gave the opportunity to Tomas to leapfrog Andy Murray and to be just 10 points away from overtaking also Del Potro. Now world no.6 he may well be no.5 rather soon.

Ferrer

David is still and always there. The Spaniard has successfully defended his title in Miami and he did overtake Del Potro that wasn’t able to defend his title in Rotterdam.

Nishikori

Kei managed to defend his title in Memphis to overtake Youzhny and be ranked world no.15.

Cilic

Marin Cilic is getting back in the rankings. Two weeks ago he has defended his title in Zagreb and now he has reached the final in Rotterdam, this has allowed him to gain 8 positions and being ranked world no. 8

Thiem

The 20 years old from Austria reached the 2nd round in Rotterdam losing in 3 sets to Murray. This has allowed him to gain 14 places and finally entered in the top 100 (now. world no.99)

The biggest gainer: Karlovic

Boom boom Karlovic reached the final in Memphis to gain 24 places and be ranked world no.56.

The biggest loser: Benneteau

Julien lost in the first round in Rotterdam where he has reached the final in last year’s edition. This made him lose 28 places and be ranked world no. 67
