The dream final (Roger-Novak) is getting closer and closer even if the path looks quite different.
From one side we have a very inspired Federer that dispatched Roddick in 64 minutes, on the other side we have Djokovic that still has some problems to fully recover from his back injury.
In fact, after an already legendary season, it look strange how Novak could lose the opener 6-2 against a strong player that is definately not anymore in his prime.
The Serb will play aginst the Japanese rising star Nishikori that won a 3 hours marathon against Kukushkin (6-4, 5-7, 6-4).
The Swiss will play… another Swiss… his fellow countryman and dear friend Stanislas Wawrinka that defeated mayer with a grim 6-2 6-2.
‘It was a tough day for Andy, he wasn’t at his best,’ said Federer,’This is the only match where he didn’t serve well against me.
‘It didn’t seem like he was so much into his game. My game got better as I went along, especially on serve. I’m pleased to be into another semifinal and facing Stan is always tough.’
On the other side Djokovic commented, ‘I’m not playing so strong but I’m winning, that’s the important thing,’ said Djokovic. ‘It was a tense match, Marcos played well.
‘He started well, I had no life on the court. But I made the crucial break at 3-2 and that was the key to the match, which decided it.
‘I had my chance to comeback in the match and I did. I know my game will get better. I’m just impatient for that to happen.’
