FOOT INJURY. Sad Tsitsipas skips the Davis Cup and plausibly the Laver Cup

Stefanos Tsitsipas is not be able to defend the colors of Team Greece this weekend

Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas is not in a fantastic place right now. The Greek sensation had a rather disappointing stint after he lost in the French Open final. Stefanos was unable to win any tournament since then despite reaching the semi-finals in Toronto and Cincinnati.

The world number 3 also had to face some harsh criticism that followed his long toilet breaks. Eventually, after crashing out in the US Open third round, Tsitsipas got a break, spending some time in the Azores before heading to Crete for the Davis Cup.

The foot injury

Unfortunately, Stefanos is not able to play the Davis Cup for Greece because of a foot injury. Stefanos commented:

“For me, it is important what we have achieved so far. And although I will not have the opportunity to compete this week, which makes me sad because I wanted to give my best, it is important that I am in Greece. Always when I return to Greece “Greece, I feel tremendous joy and rejuvenation,” said Tsitsipas, adding later:

“I have seen players who only feed on these tournaments. That for them is the most important. To me, every player deserves to play in the Davis Cup.”

The Laver Cup

Stefanos is scheduled to compete for Team Europe at the Laver Cup that will be played next week in Boston. However, given his injury and his strained relationship with some teammates, such as Sascha Zverev, it is plausible to expect that Stefanos will skip the event.

Probably, Stefanos’ next tournament will be Indian Wells that will take place at the beginning of October.
