Daniil Medvedev has won his maiden Grand Slam title after defeating Novak Djokovic in the US Open final. This was Daniil Medvedev’s fourth title of the year after he won Toronto, Majorca, and Marseille.

After his latest run in New York, Daniil Medvedev overtakes Stefanos Tsitsipas in the year-to-date (or race) live rankings to be the new world number 2. Novak Djokovic is still very much in command of this specific log to lead Daniil by 1990 points. However, if Novak decides to have limited scheduling in the last part of the season, there is a slim chance for the Russian player to end 2021 at the top of the rankings.
