Maria Sakkari won an incredible match in the US Open 4th round against a spirited Bianca Andreescu. The encounter lasted 3 hours and 30 minutes and ended after 2 am.
Even if there were only 1,000 fans to see the match, the atmosphere was absolutely electric. Maria Sakkari had the opportunity to have the full support of her mother Angelikí and sister Amanda who her cheering for her in the player’s box. Maria’s mother, Angelikí Kanellopoúlou, was also a professional tennis player and she was the inspiration for the Greek sensation to undertake the sport.
After the epic match against Bianca Andreescu, Maria Sakkari was asked to comment about the presence of Angelikí. Maria didn’t miss the chance of making fun of her mother saying that she noticed that she was incredibly nervous often looking down not even see the match.
