LAVER CUP. Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Zverev to lead Team Europe with Federer out

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev are ready to compete at the upcoming Laver Cup in Boston

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev are going to be the top players who will represent Team Europe at the upcoming Laver Cup in Boston. Andrey Rublev, Matteo Berrettini, and Casper Ruud will complete the line-up for Team Europe.

The Laver Cup will take place at TD Garden, Boston, from September 24-26. Team Europe won the previous editions in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The competition was not staged in 2020 because of the global pandemic.

Federer

Unfortunately, Roger Federer will not be able to be part of the team since he will soon undergo his third knee surgery. Federer released the following comment: “I’m really disappointed to be missing this year’s Laver Cup. Team Europe has an incredible line-up though and I wish them all the very best as they go for their fourth Laver Cup win.”

Medvedev commented: “I’m really excited to be representing Team Europe in the Laver Cup this year. Playing as part of a team is special for us, as we don’t get the chance to do that often. I’m also looking forward to being on the same side of the net for once with some of my biggest rivals on the Tour!”

Tsitsipas added: “It is great being a part of Team Europe again and I look forward to playing in Boston.”

Zverev is overjoyed to play against the Laver Cup. He brought to Team Europe the decisive in 2019. He commented: “I feel honoured to be part of Team Europe for the Laver Cup once again. I have so many incredible memories from the event and particularly that final match in Geneva in 2019.”

Team World

The lineup of Team World has not been finalized yet. Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger Aliassime, and Diego Schwartzman are the only players confirmed right now.
