Lorenzo Musetti did not start his campaign in North America in the best possible way. The new Italian sensation was meant to play the qualifications in Toronto, but he was withdrawn from the event after he broke the covid-19 protocol. Eventually, in order to avoid being quarantined in Canada, Lorenzo and his team had to fly immediately to Cincinnati where they had the opportunity to start the preparation for the next ATP1000.
Lorenzo Musetti had a nice practice session with Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, who will be most probably one of the toughest rivals in his career.

At the moment ranked no.62, Lorenzo played his last match on the 24th of July when he surrendered to world no.42 John Millman 6-3 6-4 in the 1st round in Tokyo (draw).
This season the Italian achieved an overall 30-19 win-loss record. Lorenzo Musetti’s best result of the year was reaching the final in the Antalya Challenger and the Biella 2 Challenger.

At the moment ranked no.54 (career-high), Carlos played his last match on the 27th of July when he lost to world no.324 Alexander Erler 7-5 1-6 6-2 in the 1st round in Kitzbuhel (draw).
This year the Spaniard has managed to achieve a composed 29-13 match record. Alcaraz Garfia conquered 2 titles in 2021 in the Oeiras 3 Challenger and in Umag.
