Verdasco and Marrero beats the Bryans to win the World Tour Finals

Spain is always at the top of the world, well.. at least in doubles. Last year Lopez and Granollers won this trophy and this year it was time for Verdasco and Marrero.

The Spanish team was definitely not the favourite to win the 2013 edition of the World Tour Finals, but the made it and defeating probably the best doubles in tennis history: the Bryans.

Verdasco

“It was a special victory. We’re going to go I think to a Spanish restaurant in South Kensington to enjoy the win with our family and friends.” Said Fernando

“You don’t win a tournament like this every day. I am really going to try to enjoy it. I think it’s the best way to go on holidays.”

Mike Bryan

“It shows how much they value that win and how big it was for them. I thought it was pretty good tennis. We didn’t play poorly. They came up with the goods, especially when it mattered. They went for broke… hitting those forehands, like overheads.

“We could have done a few things different. All in all, you get down to a Match Tie-break, which we’ve been playing all week, you’re dancing with the devil. It didn’t go our way there at the end.” Said the American

Verdasco and Marrero will collect a 335.000$ while the Bryans will cash “only” 195.500$.
