Stefanos Tsitsipas had an extremely draining fortnight at the recent French Open. The Greeks player managed to get to the final before losing to Novak Djokovic after leading by 2 sets.
The world no.4 also had to deal with the horrible news that his grandmother passed away right before the match. Later, he wasn’t able to attend her funeral back in Greece.
Right before starting his run in Wimbledon, Stefanos revealed that he still occasionally has emotional breakdowns thinking about his grandmother.
“It was really hard for me. I feel better now, although I still have some emotional breakdowns. I am grateful I had a person like that in my life, and the rest of my journey as a player is for her,” said Stefanos.
Tsitsipas will play his first round against Frances Tiafoe on Monday. The Greek sensation has a 2-0 win-loss record against the American. However, Stefanos is very well aware that it is going to be a tough match.
