Eugenie Bouchard was out from the competition since the 16th of March when she lost her match in the first round in Monterrey after reaching the final the week before in Guadalajara.
There was a rumor going around that the Canadian beauty was struggling with her right shoulder. Genie Bouchard decided not to compete in the European clay-court season to stay in the US.. In the last few days, there were some pictures and videos of Genie going around wearing black-colored hand support.
Eventually, Bouchard released a post on social media revealing that she had to undergo surgery on her shoulder. This was her statement:
“Hey guys. Bad news to report. As some of you may know, I’ve been having pain in my right shoulder since last fall. This past March, I tore my subscapularis in my first round match in Guadalajara. Since then, I have tried every form of conservative treatment and rehab known to man, to no avail. So last week, I pulled the trigger and had arthroscopic surgery. Doc says everything went great. I have a tough road of rehab ahead of me, but my spirits are high and I will work hard to get back to the job that I love.
Thank you to Dr. Altchek and his great team at HSS. They helped make this whole process as pleasant as it could possibly be. And thank you to all of you guys for your unwavering support. I will be busy in the next few months and I’ll keep you posted!”
Will Genie Bouchard play in Wimbledon?
Genie will definitely skip the grass season and she may try to target the so-called North American summer.

Ranked world no.117, Bouchard played her last match on the 16th of March when she was overcome by world no.99 Lin Zhu 7-5 7-6(3) in the 1st round in Monterrey (draw).
Until now, during this year Bouchard has an overall 5-4 win-loss record. Eugenie Bouchard’s most significant result of the present season was getting to the final in Guadalajara.
