Felix Auger Aliassime has been training for long at the Rafa Nadal Academy. The Canadian sensation was so happy about the experience that he decided to add Uncle Toni to his coaching team.
Obviously, this is startling news also because Rafael has recently confirmed that his uncle left his coaching team because he did not want to travel anymore.
Uncle Toni confirmed that he will coach the young Canadian and he explained the reasons:
“When I received the offer from him, I told him to come to the Academy for 10 days to see if what I could serve him or not. I did not consider the possibility of training another player. Know that, as director of the Academy, I can collaborate with a player who has the highest aspirations and it is a challenge that particularly satisfies me.”
Besides the high aspirations of Felix, Uncle Toni was also attracted by his work ethic:
“I could not work with a person who was not respectful and had values. I have been fortunate to work my whole life with a boy [Nadal] who has been respectful and has given a good image and aspired to the same thing.”
Toni will travel with Felix to Monte Carlo where his nephew will try to conquer his 12th title. Toni confirmed that if Felix will play against Rafa, he will not be in the for the respect of both players.

Ranked no.3, Nadal played his last match on the 17th of February when he lost to world no.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas 3-6 2-6 7-6(4) 6-4 7-5 in the quarter of the Australian Open (draw).
This year Rafael achieved a compiled 4-1 win-loss record.

Now ranked no.22, the Canadian played his last match on the 28th of March when he surrendered to world no.38 John Isner 7-6(5) 7-6(5) in the 3rd round in Miami (draw).
