The quarter would even… well at least on the paper as Grigor and Tommy got to the final 8 with a different effort.
Grigor had to play only 1 match and that was a very fast 6-3 6-2 against Sam Querry (only 1 hour). Baby Fed just breezed through to break Sam 3 times without dropping a single break point. Querrey was quite weak on his second serve to win only 8 points out of 38. See stats
On the other side, Tommy Haas had a much more difficult day to beat Tim Smyczek in two hours 3-6 7-5 6-3 and then in the evening Ivan Dodig 6-4 4-6 7-5 in 2 hours and 20 minutes. Tommy won the match even if he scored only 100 points vs. Dodig’s 107. See Stats
