Daniil Medvedev had an extremely easy ride in his first match at the Miami Open and he attracted the tennis fans’ attention only for his brand new mustache. The world no.2 defeated Yen-Hsun Lu 6-2 6-2 from Taiwan in barely more than 1 hour to face Alexei Popyrin in the 3rd round.
When asked about the hairy novelty, Daniil explained that he will leave the mustache for the entire duration of the Miami Open. However, It is probably going away after the ATP1000.
“I’m going to leave it for this tournament, but probably after the tournament, even if I win it, no superstitions, I’m going to shave it off. Just did it for fun. Why not, you know? Just experimenting, maybe going to do something else next time,” he admitted.
