Bianca Vanessa Andreescu is ready to come back in glory at the Miami Open, hopefully challenging Naomi Osaka and Garbine Muguruza that are arguably the top favorites to win the title. On the WTA tour, Bianca became the player to beat in the second part of 2019 after she won the US Open, beating Serena Williams in a great and inspiring final. However, a series of injuries and the pandemic kept her out from the competitions for more than 1 year.
Andreescu was hopeful of staging a fantastic comeback on the occasion of the Australian summer, but things didn’t go her way and she ended up crashing out in the 2nd round of the Australian Open.
However, Bianca has all the potential to get back to her glorious past and even if she needs to fight some doubts. “I guess there is some doubt always in the back of my head. But I’m trying my best to get rid of that. It’s not easy. It’s a process. But I’m working a lot on that,” she said in a recent interview.
Winning mentality
Bianca didn’t hide her winning mentality to add:
“I’m doing really, really good coming into this tournament. Every tournament I go into I want to win. I want to focus more on the process towards that, which is enjoying my time on court, giving all that I have, just trusting myself.”
“This is technically my second year on tour, so I don’t want to put a lot of pressure on myself in that area. But I’m doing my best in preventing a lot of stuff, working a lot in the gym. I do believe that things will be getting better.”
