It was not an easy task. The German Andrea Petkovic was the big surprise of the tournament where she managed to knock out world nr.1 Caroline Wozniacki and Jelena Jankovic in the quarter-finals.
The German was about to produce another upset when she won the opener 6-3. Then it was Sharapova’s show and the Russian won the second 6-0 and the decider 6-2.
Sharapova looks to have regained her top form and she is definitely aiming at getting back in a top 10 ranking in the short period.
The Russian will face either Victoria Azarenka or Vera Zvonareva in the final.
