Naomi Osaka has a good chance of winning big titles also on clay and grass

Naomi Osaka has already conquered 4 slams, all of them on hard court (US Open and Australian Open), but what about the French Open and Wimbledon? According to tennis legend Martina Navratilova, the world no.2 will not have issues to shine on clay and grass so as to have strong chances to win also the Roland Garros and the Championship.

Why Naomi Osaka can succeed on clay and grass

During a recent interview with tennis Channel, Navratilova explained why Naomi can win also slams on surfaces different from hard courts.

“The surfaces are much more similar than they used to be. Grass is slower, clay is faster, the balls are faster. You don’t have to make nearly as much of an adjustment as you used to,” said Martina.

“There’s no doubt that she has the game to win both on the clay and the grass,” Navratilova added talking about Naomi. “I think she’s still learning when to pull the trigger on the clay. Grass, there is no reason for her not to dominate on grass, as well. The kick serve is great for grass. It’s magnified by bad bounces, the kick. Her big shots pay off better on grass than the other surfaces, other than maybe a fast court like was in Australia this year.”

Next in Miami

Naomi Osaka will play her next tournament in Miami open, where she should be the favorite. However, Naomi has never managed to go beyond the 3rd round in Florida after playing the tournament 4 times. In 2018 she stunned the great Serena Williams in straight sets in her opening match.
