Bio, Father, Coach
Lorenzo Sonego was born in Turin on the 11th of May 1995. Sonego started to play tennis quite late when he was already 10-year-old and he was initiated by his coach Gian Piero ‘Gipo’ Arbino that was stunned by Lorenzo’s ability to play without any proper training.
At 11 years of age, Lorenzo Sonego started to play tennis 3 times per week while he was also playing soccer. Sonego was very coordinated from the very beginning, and he was having already a rather strong character.
In 2016 Lorenzo Sonego stopped playing futures to compete at ATP level starting from the Challengers. As of now, he has won 3 Challengers and 1 ATP250 in Antalya. (see updated list).
Sonego’s coach is still Gipo Arbino and Lorenzo’s most memorable win was when he demolished the great Novak Djokovic (6-2 6-1) in Vienna in 2020 (stats and highlight).

Up to now, Lorenzo Sonego has won $1,939,432 in prize money. His current net worth is estimated to be around $1 million. Sonego is sponsored by Mizuno for the clothing, Wilson (racket) and other brands such as Pulsee, Capri Watch, Aceto Varvello, Valmora Acqua Minerale.

Ranked world no.36, Lorenzo has achieved a composed 3-2 match record in 2021. Sonego is now playing in Montpellier where he managed to beat Hugo Gaston 6-3 6-77 6-1 and Sebastian Korda 6-3 6-2.
Lorenzo Sonego will face Goffin in the quarter. They have never competed against each other until now in top tournaments.
