Ashleigh Barty decided to extend her staying in Australia after her heartbreaking loss in the Australian Open quarters. Ashleigh was comfortably leading 6-1 2-0 against Muchova when she lost the plot to be defeated in 3 sets.
Barty was scheduled to play her next tournament in Doha from the 1st of March, but eventually, she decided to compete in Adelaide on home soil. Ashleigh commented:
“I am looking forward to coming back to Adelaide and having the opportunity to defend my title. I feel grateful to get another week playing in front of Australian fans.”
In the meantime, Bianca Andreescu has retired from the competition while the Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady is still on the entry list in Adelaide. There are obvious doubts about her participation in the tournament.

Currently the world no.1, Barty played her last match on the 17th of February when she lost to Karolina Muchova 1-6 6-3 6-2 in the quarter of the Australian Open (draw).
During this season the Australian achieved a 8-1 record. The Australian clinched 1 title in Melbourne.
Bianca Vanessa Andreescu in 2021
Currently ranked no.9, Bianca played her last match on the 18th of February when she capitulated to Marie Bouzkova 6-7(9) 6-2 7-5 in the semifinal in Melbourne (draw).
At present, during this year the Canadian achieved a 4-2 record. Bianca Vanessa Andreescu’s latest run in Melbourne was the best achievement of her season.
Brady at the Australian Open, ranking, and results in 2021
At the moment ranked no.24 (career-high), the American achieved a 9-2 win-loss record in 2021. Brady is currently playing at the Australian Open where she ousted Aliona Bolsova 6-1 6-3, Madison Brengle 6-1 6-2, Kaja Juvan 6-1 6-3, Donna Vekic 6-1 7-5, Jessica Pegula 4-6 6-2 6-1 and Karolina Muchova 6-4 3-6 6-4.
Jennifer Brady will come up against Osaka in the final. Their actual record is 2-1 for Osaka.
