Things are getting more and more complicated for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian champion was just outstanding when he managed to find the solution in the 3rd round when he defeated Fritz Taylor in 5 sets despite being injured to his abdomen. Novak looked wildly impaired against the American when he just tried to stay in the match using his serve. Eventually, the world no.1 overcame Taylor in the decider.
About the abdomen injury
After the match, Novak sounded quite downbeat about his condition to say he wasn’t sure if he could compete in the following round to say
“I don’t know if I’ll manage to recover from that in less than two days. I don’t know if I’m going to step out on to the court or not.”
Eventually Novak decided to skip the following training session and three are doubts about the fact that he might even compete against his next opponent: Milos Raonic.
Novak Djokovic and Milos Raonic fought against each other 11 times. Their record is 11-0 for Djokovic. The last time they competed against each other, Novak Djokovic won 1-6 6-3 6-4 in the final in New York (Western & Southern Open) in August 2020.
