Stefanos Tsitsipas is a consolidated top10 player right now and he seems to be ready to achieve grand slam glory finally. The Greek sensation had to follow a rather tough and unusual path to greatness coming from a country without many past champions.

Stefanos has been nurtured personally and professionally by his parents. His mother Julia was a professional tennis player and she used to coach him in the past. Currently, his main coach is Stefanos’ father, Apostolos. Despite some hiccups in their coach-son relationship, their professional partnership has worked pretty well so far.

Tsitsipas about his father and mother

During a recent interview with the BBC, Stefanos talked about his relationship with his parents.

“My mum was also my coach when I was younger, so she taught me a lot, including discipline, generosity, and kindness,” said about Julia.

Then Stefanos stressed the role of his father that was central for his tennis development to say:

“My dad had a big influence too. And he still has today. He’s the reason I have developed my game. His guidance and life advice helped me to mature.”

In order to improve his tennis, Stefanos has been using the service of Patrick Mouratoglou’s academy that he joined when he was already 16.
