The draw in Dubai keeps on displaying top seeds victories, but they do not look as smashing as usual. Yesterday Murray survived a 3 set scare in the first round. Today it took some time for Djokovic to defeat Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine (a good, but not a top player).
‘Let’s say it’s probably the fact that the difference between the top players and maybe the lower-ranked players is actually those moments, and managing to keep your composure and cope with the pressure and just focus, have an extra focus, mental strength,’ Novak said. ‘There is not much difference in the shots. We don’t hit, I don’t know, 10 miles stronger than our opponents.’
Today Murray had an easier life with Chiudinelli. He did not concede any break point and he broke his opponent 4 times.
‘Yeah, I definitely played better,’ Murray said. ‘Still wasn’t moving as good as I would have liked, but served well today. Less mistakes today and served well, so it was good.’
Berdych had an easy one with Lacko (6-1 6-2 in 69minutes) and Del Potro dispatched Golubev 6-4 6-2.
Fish keeps on having a miserable start in 2012. After being defeated in the 2nd round of the Australian Open and after an ‘inglorious’ defeated in Marseille by world 388th (Albano Olivetti), he had to suffer another nasty loss at the hand of the always dangerous Mikhail Youzhny.
