Nadal not playing the 2012 Davis Cup tie against the USA

It was building up, but now it seems pretty sure that Rafa will not come back for the Davis Cup semi due in September. In a recent interview he said

“I am feeling the calm that comes from knowing I’ll be back when I genuinely feel ready to play at the level I really want to and not have to suffer through every match,” Nadal told Spanish television “I don’t know. The truth is I really don’t have any idea and when the time comes my knee will decide, and if the knee is fine, then the captain will decide,”

This was an ominous sign that has materialized as Rafa is absent from list published on the official Davis Cup website for the semifinal.

From Roger

In a recent interview Roger was asked about the possibility that Rafa will be back only in 2013 “It’s obviously not great news but one that was a possibility,”

“I think it’s quite personal except if one guy goes up to the other. But we’re both very open and honest. When I ask him how he’s feeling, he’s not feeling well, he’ll tell me, I’m tired, a little injured,” said Federer. “There’s no real secrets out there because he knows and I know when we tell each other that stuff it doesn’t leave the room. That’s a nice relationship I have with Rafa. It’s based on a lot of trust.”

From Andy

“I’m sure he’ll come back strong. It might just take a little bit more time. He’s not really been out for really long periods of time beforehand. But he’s always come back to be one of the best players in the world,” said the Scott.

Let’s hope to see him back soon.
