Finally Rafa got it!
It hasn’t been a smashing tournament for the King of Clay… but who cares? Rafa got back the important feeling of winning a tournament to add another “piece” to his return.
This is the 37th title for Rafa on clay that is chasing Muster (40 titles on clay) and Vilas (45 titles).
The Final
It took only 78 minutes for Rafa to beat Nalbandian. After a very solid first set when Rafa double broke the Argentine, the King of Clay had to recover a 0-3 deficit in the second set to win 6 consecutive games (not an easy achievement with a player like David)

“It’s very nice and important because at the end of your career what’s left are the titles, and depending on certain moments there are some titles that you appreciate very much,” said Nadal.
“This one I appreciate it the most because of all the struggles I went through during the week, with some problems with my knee some days.”

Nalbandian admitted: “I didn’t play my best match today, Rafa was much better. I was ahead in the second set but I couldn’t take advantage of it.”
