Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are finally happy about Madrid courts

Finally we have good comments about Madrid courts. Last year there was a huge controversy about the blue clay as many players said it was too slippery and they could not express their best tennis. Rafa and Nole were among the most vocal players as Nole couldn’t find any grip and Rafa…well he was deprived of his best asset: red clay.

This year things are different and the organization managed to prepare a proper surface to get some nice comments from top players.

From Rafa

The King of (red) Clay commented “The courts were not at the level to play professionally last year. Fortunately this year they are very good. I can only thank the tournament for the money they have invested to have the highest quality courts here. Obviously the courts of the year before were better than the courts of last year, but they were still not great.”

From Roger

Even if Federer got the best out of the blue clay (as he won last year’s edition), the Swiss Maestro said he was pleased to get back to a normal red clay. The world no.2 said that he is very happy with this year’s quality of the courts to comment.

“I don’t know if that was due to the color, but this tournament has, in the past, had issues with the quality of the court,” Federer commented . “I think through what happened last year, you know, the controversy around the blue clay, I think it was a big eye-opener to have a proper court here now.”

From Nole

The Djoker is also a happy uy to say that the quality of the courts i “great” and also the other players are quite happy.

Good news… time to play…
