King Roger beats Julien 6-3 6-4 7-5. Video Interview

The Swiss Maestro beats the Frenchman in straight sets. As per Roger’s admission Benneteau wasn’t at his best to make the match a bit awkward.

Finally Roger made it to bring his personal record against the Frenchman to a nice 5-2 and that brought to Roger his 899 career win.

From Roger

“I’m happy because I have not used much of my energy so far,”commented Roger

“I’m still there in the tournament, and therefore, I think I can perhaps go deep in the tournament. I feel totally relaxed. Mentally I’m okay. I’m quite confident. I can feel it, which is what you need to be if you want to go deep and have good results here at Roland Garros.”

“I thought it was a different match than what we usually play against each other. He was clearly handicapped with the leg, which I was able to take advantage of,” he added.

From Julien

The seed no,.30 commented”I felt I was not at the best level, given all the efforts I made during the first two matches. My shots were not as heavy,  not moving enough.”

Next vs. Simon

Roger will play Gilles Simon in the 4th Round. The Frenchman may be quite tired as he has played 2 five setters in the first 3 matches. The last won was a tricky 2-6 6-3 2-6 7-6(2) 6-2 over Sam Querrey. Head to Head is 3-2 for Federer that has won the last 3 matches against Simon.

The have played only once on clay and that was this year in Rome when Roger won 6-1 6-2 in the third round.
