Federer to start the 2014 in Brisbane

The Swiss Maestro is trying to turn things around changing dramatically his schedules.

In 2013 he has opted for a “light season” with not many tournaments (especially at the beginning). This has probably opened some holes in Roger’s tennis as he didn’t look too much “on the ball”.

So the Maestro decided not to play any official tournament till the Australian Open also because he had a taxing South American Tour to deal with in December.

This year that will be different. Roger will play the tournament in Brisbane to kick start the season and hopefully being more prepared for Melbourne.

From the Organisation

Tournament director Cameron Pearson said Roger wanted to play already last year, but he had to change his schedules. “It’s been a couple of years in the making. I think he was keen to come last year. It just didn’t work with his schedule.

He played a lot of matches in the first half of the year and changed his schedule in the second half of the year. I guess that’s why Roger has been at the top of his game for such a long time.” added Pearson

From Roger

“I’ve heard many great things from the other players, they say it’s a very friendly tournament, fan friendly, player friendly. What else do you expect to be quite honest, in Australia you guys do great work.

I’ve always hoped that I could come there]… so I am happy we are all able to make it work. I’m not just coming there for the Australian Open, especially when I commit so early in advance, it’s also to win in Brisbane.” added Roger.

In 2013 the Champion was Murray that has defeated Dimitrov 7-6 (0) 6-4.
