Sascha Zverev And Stefanos Tsitsipas

Alexander Zverev is dealing with all the problems he has been facing for the last couple of years. One of Sascha’s biggest issue was his relationship with his now-former manager Patricio Apey. The German ace was linked to Apey’s agency ACE Group International with a contract that was signed back in 2012 when Sascha was 15.

Zverev wanted to terminate his relationship with the ACE Group to partner with Federer’s Team 8. However, Apey said that Zverev didn’t have the right to do so because of their contract.

Eventually, Zverev sued ACE Group Internationa for “unlawful restraint of trade” and they settled in a way that sees to be successful for the young German.

Zverev’s statement

Sascha released the following statement on Instagram:

“What a day. Quite an important one for me. After almost two years of discussions and disputes with my old management, I can now leave an unfair and oppressive contract behind me.

I signed it 8 years ago, with the blind trust you have when you are 15 years old. Big thanks to my lawyers who encouraged me to stand up and not accept that contract! I hope that by making this public and dealing with it in court, we have raised awareness among up-and-coming players, and their families, that professional sports agents do not always act in the best interest of them.

We should think of a way to prevent this kind of challenges for all the young and talented athletes that are out there.”

ACE Group Statement

Patricio Apey has previously represented Andy Murray and he is currently managing Stefanos Tsitsipas’ interests. He released the following statement:

“It is sad that a successful working partnership which lasted so long has ended this way and that, unfortunately, many of those deals secured by ACE are no longer in place.

“ACE Group and in particular, Patricio Apey, is proud to have helped nurture and initially finance Alexander Zverev’s tennis career when he was 825 in the world and negotiated so many lucrative commercial deals for the player. We wish him well for the future.”
