Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem are going to face off in the semifinal of the ATP Finals in London. Even if Nole has a positive record against Dominic (7-4), he is well aware that the world no.3 is a huge danger. Thiem upset Novak last year at the Finals after an epic 3-setter in the round-robin. However, the Serbian champion gave Thiem a heartbreaker when he beat him in the Australian Open final.
Talking about his impending opponent, the world no.1 commented:
“I have lots of respect for Dominic and his game and his work ethic. Every time we got to play I think in the last three, four matches, it was some marathon, thrilling encounters.
It’s semi-finals, so I’m expecting a tough battle, no question about it. He’s in very good form. He loves to play on this surface. Obviously, he played the final last year. He beat Roger and myself last year at The O2. He’s a Grand Slam champion.”
The winner of their match will face the winner of the other semifinal that is contested by Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev, with the Russian champion probably being the favorite.
