Daniil Medvedev Wins The Title In Paris

Daniil Medvedev dispatches Alexander Zverev 5-7 6-4 6-1 in the final in Paris on Sunday. Everything changed for Daniil from the 8th game of the second set. That was the moment when he managed to win 9 of the following 10 games to reverse a 5-7 4-4 deficit and win his 1st title of the season.

After the match, the Russian champion admitted that he didn’t feel to be in great form.

“Before this tournament, I wasn’t in great form, zero finals this year and I was crying, well complaining, to my wife, ‘Oh my God, I don’t have the level, not playing well, not even any finals’,” he commented.

However, things changed and Daniil conquered is 3rd ATP1000 after he won Cincinnati and Shanghai last year.

“But now, three Masters titles, it’s great. I have had the level this week. I managed to keep the pressure on and in the end, I broke his level a little bit,” he added.

It is worth noting that a pivotal stage of the set was when Daniil won 4 consecutive games in the 3rd set to convert the game count from 0-0 to 4-0.
