Serena Williams is today 39-year-old! The American legend is about to start her French Open campaign hoping to clinch her 24th slam and finally match Margaret Court’s record. This will be an unusually birthday for Serena as she is definitely not used to celebrate it during the Roland Garros since the French slam is usually played in May and June.

It’s difficult to list Serena Williams’s accomplishments of her first 39 years. The American icon is well-known for her 23 slams and 73 career titles. However, Serena is much more than that. She has become a real icon for the people of color and beyond. The former world no.1 has been an inspiration for women all over the world. By chasing her 24th slam, she has been demonstrating that being a mom doesn’t mean relinquishing your dreams

Williams has always been a huge inspiration for the new generation. During a recent press conference, Naomi Osaka stressed the fact that the Japanese sensation was “there” only because she was inspired by the American ace. Naomi Osaka’s father Leonard took also Serena’s father example to start to introduce his daughters to tennis and to coach them. Serena and her sister Venus demonstrated that tennis can be a sport also practiced not exclusively by the rich and black people could be part of it. It’s not by chance that American tennis has been blessed by the likes of Sloane Stephens,  Coco Gauff, and Frances Tiafoe just to name a few.

Serena is also a successful businesswoman that loves investing in businesses and start-ups managed and owned by women. Even if Serena is extremely focussed on her beloved sport and business activities, she will never renounce her main role: being a mom!
