Alexander Zverev had a rather adventurous run in the New York bubble. After crashing out in the opening match of the Western & Southern Open at the hands of Andy Murray, he managed to go all the way to the final at the US Open.
Sascha lost an “impossible” final after being 2 sets and a break up and he failed to serve out the match when leading 5-3 in the decider. The German champion also imploded in the tiebreak after leading 2-0 and he couldn’t have a final and decisive rush when the breaker was locked on a 6-all scoreline.
During the final ceremony, the world no.7 couldn’t hold his tears to also reveal that his parents could not be with him in New York as both tested positive to the Coronavirus.
Both Zverev’s parents are negative
During the press conference that followed the final, Sascha was asked about the health situation of his parents. Zverev confirmed that both parents are fine and actually they are both negative. In addition, he added that his emotions were related to the loss of this incredible final as he was really struggling with his speech.
