Home favorite Sijsling stuns Tsonga. Janowicz upset in Rotterdam

We had a couple of interesting upsets in the first day of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

Home favorite Igor Sijsling delighted the crowd with a big upset to claim his first top 10 player’s scalp. The wildcarded Dutch played a very good tennis. Tsonga had a wonderful weapon in his serve 14 aces in 16 service games and to be only 1 point shy from the Dutch (Jo  won 103 points vs  Sijsling’s 104)… but that was not enough.

Sijsling will play Klizan in the 2nd round (head to head is 1-0 for Sijsling).

Janowicz was also another upset of the day. Well it seems that the Pole can’t really keep up with the expectations and his ranking (no.26) to lose to Hanescu (no.65) 7-6 (4) 6-3 in 92 minutes.
