Sascha Zverev’s father found positive to the Coronavirus casting doubts about the US Open

Sascha Zverev And His Father

Alexander Zverev can’t say he has a good relationship with the Coronavirus. The German sensation was recently slammed by the media after he broke his pledge to self-isolate after he participated in the Adria Tour. Now, as reported by the Italian media, Sascha’s father was tested positive in Italy where he was with his other son Mischa that is in the draw of a challenger in Trieste.

Will Zverev play the US Open?

The protocols are quite strict at the US Open, where the organization removed 2 players (Guido Pella and Hugo Dellien) from the Western & Southern Open because their physio tested positive to Covid-19. Both Guido and Hugo tested negative, but the organization enforced the strict protocol. Some other players, such as Novak Djokovic, protested about the decision, but nothing changed.

Fortunately, Mischa tested negative twice and if he tests negative for the 3rd time, he will be allowed to play the tournament in Trieste. However, it is now unclear what is going to be Sascha’s fate. The world no.7 is in New York for 6 days and therefore if required,  he might need to self isolate and skip the Western & Southern Open to be in time to play the US Open (if he keeps on testing negative). However, the German has been in touch with many other people in the hotel, so it’s really not clear what is going to happen.

Let’s hope everything will be fine and we can enjoy seeing Sascha back on court.
