Soderling defeated Roddick and the rain to win the Brisbane International

Soderling had a very good week.

He managed  to win the Brisbane International and he will grab the 4th spot in the tennis world ranking next week.
The Swede confirmed a very good form in the final where he defeated former world nr.1 Andy Roddick in straight sets (6-3 7-5).
Soderling won the opening set with a comfortable 6-3.
The second set was a bit more tight.Roddick looked more confident and there was a bit of drama when the score was on 4-4.
At that point, despite the fact that the Pat Rafter Arena was covered, there was some water coming out from the outside rain.
Than an heated discussion took place between the umpire (Fergus Murphy) and Andy Roddick.
Murphy maintained that the court was not slippery yet. Roddick reply was that he was not testing properly the court and that he did not have any intention of getting injured before the Australian open.
The match was stopped for 15 minute.
Soderling sat on the bench showing his calm Swedish nature.
Than the match started again and the the Swede managed to win the second set 7-5.
The 4th position in the South African world tennis ranking will be quite instrumental to have a better draw in the Australian Open
